Vijay was the first tamil actor to endorse Coca-Cola In Tamilnadu. Vijay is one of the few actors having a big fan following even outside Tamilnadu. In the year 2002 he was signed up by Coke for Few Years, in which he featured Coke ads and endorsed the brand through his films too. Those ads, choreographed By Raju Sundaram had a good reach. Apart from these he also promoted sunfeast brand of biscuits through his movies.

 Jos Alukkas is one of the largest organized players in jewellery retailing in South India. Kochi  a unit of Mudra India, in the year 2010 had released a new campaign for Jos Alukkas, titled ‘Ponnil Teertha Bandham’ (Relationships as Good as Gold. The agency had roped in south actor Vijay as the brand ambassador for jos alukkas in Tamil nadu and kerala. The Jos Alukkas advertisement featuring Vijay and his mother Shoba is an extremely famous one in Tamil Nadu. his films do good business in kerala too, where he has more number of fans. So this advertisement was a success one.

In the year 2011 Tata Docomo announced actor Vijay as their new brand ambassador for a period of 1 year. He would endorse the products and services of Tata docomo in Tamil Nadu. It was said that Vijay's charm and mass appeal made them choose the actor, to celebrate the occasion with its customers; Tata Docomo had also announced a double talk time plan on CDMA and full talk time plan on GSM. Vijay was also signed up as the star ambassador for the Indian Premier League cricket team Chennai Super Kings, along with actress Nayanthara   It was said that Vijay’s interest in the game   increased after his eight year-old son started watching cricket
